CABRAMATTA, SYDNEY DRIVE-BY SHOOTING: POLICE LAUNCH SEARCH FOR GUNMAN

Police have launched an urgent hunt for a gunman after he mounted a curb with a car and opened fire on a home with with nine people including four children inside.

Emergency services rushed to a home on Cabramatta Road in Cabramatta, Sydney's south west, shortly before 11.45pm following reports the home was peppered with bullets. 

The gunman, who was inside a white Toyota Corolla which mounted the footpath outside the home, opened fire before fleeing the scene.

There were nine people, including five adults and four children, caught inside the home. 

All nine occupants escaped the drive-by shooting uninjured.

Police launched an investigation into the incident and declared the home a crime scene. 

A white Corolla was later found on Hamel Road in the neighbouring suburb of Mt Pritchard on fire. 

Firefighters extinguished the blaze, however the vehicle was destroyed.  

Investigators confirmed the Corolla was the same vehicle involved in the shooting and is subject to a forensic examination.
